Want to share a platform with Dame Emma Kirkby? Then read on!

We’ve grown considerably this year under our new inspirational conductor, Peter Gambie. There are vacancies for tenors and basses but, unfortunately, prospective sopranos and altos have to go on a waiting list. However, ladies can sneak to the top of the list by bringing along a man! So, if you’re female and keen to join, get a man and, as long as you both can sing, you’re in!

The Choir meets on Mondays, 7.15–9.30pm at St James Road Methodist Church, St James’ Road, Southampton, SO15 5HE.

The Society contributes to the musical life of the city by performing a wide range of music and being involved in civic events. Our repertoire ranges from the great works of Bach, Haydn and Mozart to modern classics by Rutter and Lauridsen, along with music from stage and screen.

The choir employs professional orchestras and soloists and is embarking on bringing international stars to the city: Dame Emma Kirkby will join the Society for a programme of Mozart and Haydn in 2011.

The Society has established close links with the City Music Service, sponsoring a young musician each year and working with the Youth Orchestra and Choir.
